"One of my longtime political beliefs has been that polticians
should be paid their constituent's median income. Then they might
have a clue about what we need." --

I dunno...do most politicians need their federal salaries? Most of them seem to be independently wealthy (how many lower/middle class folks can quit their job to go campaigning?)
At the topmost federal level... very few. Some at the state level, and even more for local. (My un-researched opinion, based on having know a few lower-level politicians). (jmax315)
Hmm. Clever, but has the problem of encouraging the politicians and constituents to steal from people outside their area. (Which, I suppose, is a pretty good definition of earmarks...)

Mmm. I'd argue for the least of median, mode, and mean. Otherwise, a good idea.
